ABOUT
Asher (they/them) is a nationally recognized advocate for transgender and gender-expansive youth and disability justice, bringing lived experience and deep expertise to their work in policy, community organizing, and direct services. Asher embraces their intersectional identity as both deaf and transgender —perspectives that fuel their commitment to dismantling systemic barriers and uplifting marginalized voices. Their leadership has shaped four state-level policies in Illinois advancing transgender rights and inclusion, and they continue to influence policy development nationwide. Beyond policy, Asher is a powerful community organizer and public speaker. From mobilizing protests and leading joyful community events to facilitating workshops at international conferences like the World Pride Human Rights Conference, they consistently center the intersections of gender identity, disability, and access. Drawing on their legal research background, Asher combines advocacy with action, building pathways toward equity and belonging for transgender youth and their families.
